About
The Robinson name in Annalong has been synonymous with
the processing of stone certainly for the greater part
of this century.
The company built it's reputation by supplying Mourne
granite in the form of kerbing and sets for use in the
paving of the streets of Belfast and English cities
such as Liverpool, Oldham, Preston and Bolton.
From those early days of horse drawn carts and sailing
schooners and the progression that was made to monumental
stone work, this fourth generation "stone family"
is presently entering a new phase of development as
stone processors with the formation of a building division.
The revival of stone as a fashionable building material
has prompted the County Down based firm to set up a
separate division specialising in the many varieties
of dressed granite and marble.
A new industrial unit, that is equipped with the latest
"state of the art" cutting and polishing machinery,
is presently on a site adjoining the company's headquarters
at 14 Main Street, Annalong.
Present Managing Director, Brian Robinson, points out
that ... "While building work being carried out
by the firm is not a new phenomenon, it is an area which
has shown considerable potential recently and one which
we fully intend developing further."
